UK MoD ASSC - Asset Subject to Special Controls (UK)

The UK MoD created the phrase Assets Subject to Special Controls (ASSC) as a collective name for Items, Software, Information and Services that are controlled under but can be managed via single generic business process to “uniquely identify, track and trace” assets throughout the Supply Chain and then apply the correct control at the point of transaction. The following groups are covered by this definition:

  • UK Export Controls (Military List & EU Dual-Use goods)
  • US Foreign Military Sales (FMS)
  • International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • Polaris Sales Agreement (PSA)
  • Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
  • US-UK Defence Trade Co-operation Treaty (DTCT)
  • Attractive to Criminal and Terrorist Organisations (ACTO)

Generic process and information exchange requirements have been developed and Industry through TD-Info (Team Defence Information) through a series of collaborative workshops run by the Joint Information Group, (JIG) with the MoD WATERGUARD Program. This work has been highly successful and has won a series of awards.
