DefCon 528 - Import and Export Licenses (UK)

The United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (UK MoD) has a series of Defence Conditions (DefCon) which are the physical terms and conditions that are implemented as part of their contracting mechanism to provide standard terms, conditions and clauses.

DefCon 528 requires a Supplier to the UK MoD to provide information relating to Import and Export Licences that are required from foreign governments in the provision of the goods/services being delivered to the UK MoD that they are contracted to the MoD directly but also from their third-party suppliers.

Details of the Licences are captured and submitted to the UK MoD on Defence Form 528 (DefForm528), currently the data collection is orientated towards capturing information to manage US Export controls, for example International Trade In Arms Regulation (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and Defence Trade and Corporation Treaty (DTCT) in particular.
